# Flexible Line Recovery Robot — Invention Disclosure & Evidence Record V1.0

## 1. Core inventive concept

The proposed invention treats the recovery workspace itself as an active part of flexible-line manipulation.

Instead of placing a difficult disordered cable, rope, strap or hose problem into a general-purpose robot-arm workspace, the system uses a constrained recovery chamber, distributed local handling modules and a state-based supervisory controller.

The controller does not simply command movements. It maintains a recoverable physical state, verifies transitions and can reject and recover from failed manipulations.

## 2. Essential combination under investigation

1. Constrained recovery chamber.
2. Distributed compliant handling.
3. Line-state representation combining geometry/topology and physical state.
4. Slack-first action selection.
5. Physical-response verification.
6. Last-verified-state checkpoint.
7. Rollback following failed verification.
8. Alternative action selection.
9. Verified transition to organization output.

## 3. What is not being claimed

The project does not rely on generic claims to:

- manipulate a cable with a robot;
- untangle a cable;
- loosen a cable;
- route a wire;
- straighten a cable;
- wind a cable;
- recover a cable;
- perform closed-loop robot control;
- perform generic error recovery.

These areas require prior-art comparison and are treated as established background.

## 4. Engineering implementation evidence

Repository artifacts include:

- recovery-engine.js
- hardware-abstraction.js

## 5. State-machine evidence

Normal path:

BOOT → SAFE → OBSERVE → MAP → SELECT_ACTION → EXECUTE → VERIFY → COMMIT

Recovery path:

VERIFY failure → ROLLBACK → alternative action → EXECUTE → VERIFY

Critical fault:

Any state → FAULT / safe stop

## 6. Demonstrator evidence

The software demonstrator provides deterministic simulation of:

- normal recovery;
- verified state progression;
- verification failure;
- rollback;
- actuator stall/fault;
- run history;
- exported run data.

The demonstrator intentionally does not claim direct production hardware control.

## 7. Prior-art discipline

Initial screening found established work in robotic cable manipulation, untangling, cable recovery, straightening, routing and autonomous error recovery.

The legal-review boundary is therefore the integrated architecture and control relationship described in this disclosure.

A professional search must still test that combination against patent claims, published applications, academic literature and patent-family continuations/divisionals.

## 8. Disclosure-control recommendation

Until counsel has reviewed filing strategy, treat the detailed claim combination as confidential where commercially appropriate.

Maintain:

- dated repository commits;
- dated invention-disclosure versions;
- diagrams;
- test records;
- simulation records;
- design alternatives;
- contributor/inventor records;
- disclosure dates;
- buyer NDA records where applicable.
